Wonder what NBA stars of the mid-90’s would have thought of the Steve Urkel inspired attire players are sporting in 2011? Where everything nerd-like is considered the fashsionable choice.

In their tandem press conferences, LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, of the Miami Heat, alternate impeccably tailored suits with cardigans over shirts and ties. They wear gingham and plaid and velvet, bow ties and sweater vests, suspenders, and thick black glasses they don’t need. Their colors conflict. Their patterns clash. Clothes that once stood as an open invitation to bullies looking for something to hang on the back of a bathroom door are what James now wears to rap alongside Lil Wayne. Clothes that once signified whiteness, squareness, suburbanness, sissyness, in the minds of some NBA players no longer do.
Back in the summer we designed a pretty nifty lookin’ t-shirt and asked the tumblr community to give us some feedback on the design. We promised that if the design received over a 100 notes we would bring it to the masses . The response blew us away. Our proposed design ended up receiving over 300 notes! So as promised we’ve produced our first t-shirt and launched The Tickr Shop.
What has 2-Time NBA MVP Steve Nash been doing during the NBA lockout? Just designing his very own collection of suits. No biggie. Nash has collaborated with the menswear label Indochino to design some pretty bossin suits that would make even Giorgio Armani a little jealous. Okay, maybe not, but the designs are still really nice.
Team Canada unveiled an alternate special edition third jersey for the upcoming 2012 IIHF World Junior Championships. The jersey features a throwback logo that was used by Team Canada from 1982-1994.

Nike in collaboration with LeBron James has developed an off-court clothing line featuring a very royal looking lion logo designed to pay homage to LeBron’s “heart of a lion.”

Had to laugh at The Triangle Blog’ s article, Charlotte Hornets Starter Jackets: An Appreciation over at Grantland. For someone who fits this demo it’s hard not to get wrapped up in the nostalgia and (the feeling of wanting to go out to the garage and start looking for some of this stuff).
It was exceptional to be a sports-obsessed child of the ’90s (ages 3 to 13) for 10 main reasons:
1. Sports Illustrated for Kids 2. NBA Inside Stuff 3. D2: The Mighty Ducks 4. Ken Griffey Jr. 5. The naive belief that you had the only Ken Griffey Jr. rookie card 6. Matt Christopher books 7. Space Jam 8. Jordan Highlight VHS box sets 9. MTV Rock ‘N’ Jock Basketball (Dan Cortese, I SEE you). 10. Starter jackets
Oh, and I think it’s worth noting that some of us actually have a Ken Griffey Jr. rookie card, check that, two of ‘em!
1980’s Magic Johnson sticking it to PETA by sporting a fabulous man fur. Miss the days when you could just drape yourself in fur. Those were some fun times.

UGG unveiled their first commercial, entitled “Steps” during Monday Night Football featuring Patriots quarterback and 3-time Super Bowl champion, Tom Brady. The ad also features Mos Def’s track, “Twilite Speedball” to give it a more manly vibe. Thoughts?
The Nike Mag’s have finally hit ebay’s Interweb shelves and Nike has dropped another incredible ad in tribute to the Back To The Future trilogy. The ad features original stars Christopher Lloyd (Doc), Donald Fullilove (Goldie), and features Kevin Durant and Bill Hader of SNL fame. Oh, and it’s hilarious.
All proceeds of the 1,500 shoes on ebay for special auction benefit the Michael J Fox Foundation.
Great Scott! They’re finally here! The new Nike MAG “McFly” sneakers, launched today in Los Angeles. Proceeds from the sale of the MAG go directly towards Mr. Fox’s Parkinson’s research foundation. Win win.
Update: Nike’s official media statement about the MAG. 1500 pairs will be auctioned off on eBay starting tonight at 8:30pm PST till September 18th (150 pairs a day).
